An introduction to the Act
The Data Protection Act 1998 came into force on the in 1998. An act to make new provision for the regulation of the processing of information relating to individuals, including the obtaining, holding, use or disclosure. This was enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons in this present parliament assembled and by the authority of the same.

The Act gives data subejct the right to access their personal data to all personal data that is held by Dyfed Powys Police. Any person who makes a request to a Dyfed Powys Police for personal information will be informed within 40 days of the application. Please refer to the ICO website for guidance.
