Environmental Information

Introduction

The Environmental Information Regulations provides the right to access environmental information held by public authorities.  Requests for environmental information can be made by letter, e-mail, telephone or in person.

The Directive 2003/4/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 January 2003 on public access to environmental information and repealing Council Directive 90/313/eec can be accessed from here.

The responsibility for environmental issues and energy conservation falls under the remit of the Force Environmental Officer who is based within the Force Estates Department.

Disclosure of Environmental Information
   
Regulation 4 (1) (a) of the Environmental Information Regulations require that public authorities ‘…progressively make the information available to the public by electronic means which are easily accessible’.  To this end Dyfed Powys Police will publish within the Freedom of Information pages a number of documents that fall within the category of environmental information.

Public authorities are required, subject to a number of exceptions, to make environmental information available upon request and included below are details on how a request for environmental information can be submitted to Dyfed Powys Police.   Dyfed Powys Police aim to publish within the Freedom of Information Disclosure Log responses to requests for environmental information where disclosures have been made.

Making a Request for Environmental Information

A request for environmental information can be made verbally or in writing to any member of staff.  To assist the process you can submit your request by any of the methods included below.

Verbal Requests

  • It will be necessary, to ensure accuracy and efficiency, to record any verbal request in writing.  If you wish to make a request in person you can do so at your nearest Police Station, for the attention of the Freedom of Information Officer.
  • Please make your request clear, legible and as specific as possible about what you are seeking.
  • Please provide an address for us to send any response to (mail or e-mail).
  • It would be helpful to the FOI Unit if you could provide a contact telephone number should we need to contact you.
