Dyfed Powys Police Freedom of Information Unit
The Dyfed Powys Police Freedom of Information Unit
(FOI) is based at Police Headquarters and is responsible for processing all
requests for information under the FOI Act and the Environmental Information
Regulations (EIR). Requests for information that fall under the Data
Protection Act 1998 are processed by the Data Protection Department.
In addition the Unit has responsibility for
coordinating the Publication Scheme and providing awareness input as and when
required to staff throughout the Force.
The unit aims to promote and create an atmosphere of openness and
transparency throughout the Force by encouraging and working with departments
and divisions to ensure the proactive publication of non harmful information
via the Force Publication Scheme and through disclosure upon request.
Dyfed Powys Police has seen an increase in Freedom of Information
requests year on year since the 01 January 2005. This has not only had an
impact on the staff within the Freedom of Information Unit but also has an impact
on the departments and divisions who provide the information requested to the
Freedom of Information Unit for processing. The Force receives requests on a
variety of subjects. The Freedom of Information Unit aims to publish a
variety of requests that may be of interest to individuals or organisations,
via the FOI disclosure log.
