What We Have Done

  • Anti-social behaviour in St Nons Avenue and Steele Avenue
    Regular patrols have been conducted in the St Nons and Steele Avenue to tackle the anti-social behaviour. Some local youths have been spoken to regarding their behaviour and the level of behaviour has reduced. Police patrols will continue on this area.
  • College Road
    Anti-social behaviour late at night believed to be alcohol related, another being playing football on the street. Visibility patrol has been carried out in the area. Also parents have been spoken to with regard football playing, involvement of youth outreach workers to be encouraged.  Police patrols will continue in this area.
  • Speeding on Llansteffan Road
    A joint initiative was held at Rhydygors School with the Road Safety Department of Carmarthenshire County Council, and pupils of  Rhydygors School, where a number of vehicles were stopped travelling in excess of 20mph, and were spoken to by the pupils as part of the initiative. Also this area has been targeted by the Road Policing Unit and Neighbourhood Policing Team who used the hand held speeding device to carry out speeding checks.

Inspector Steve Lee

Inspector Steve Lee joined Dyfed Powys Police in 1996 having worked in the public service industry for 19 years. He served as a PC in Ammanford and Kidwelly police stations before becoming a sergeant. He was stationed at Llanelli, Lampeter and St. Clears before taking up his current role of Inspector based in the Carmarthen Rural Section. He said: “I am a local resident and I have found that knowing the local community has helped me identify and deal with the concerns and issues within my section. I look forward to furthering the ties already made with the local communities and our partner agencies, with the intention of reducing crime and instances of anti-social behaviour whilst developing the profile of my neighbourhood policing team”.

Sergeant Steve Glynn

Sergeant Steve Glynn joined Gwent Police as a Constable in 1990, where he served for six years as a dog handler.  He transferred to Dyfed-Powys Police in 2003, stationed at Lampeter. In 2005 he was promoted to Sergeant, remaining at Lampeter in a response role, before being transferred to Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant at Carmarthen in 2009. He said, “I am very much looking forward to a new focus and challenge in this role. I live locally and policing issues in the area are important to me. I am also looking forward to meeting and working closely with the community and partner agencies to contribute to prevention and detection of crime and dealing with anti-social behaviour”

PC Nicola Hughes

PC Nicola Hughes joined Dyfed Powys Police in September 1998, and has worked as a response officer within Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire Divisions. She joined the Neighbourhood Policing Team in April 2010. Nicola enjoys meeting people and is keen to get to know members of the community. She is originally from Carmarthen and currently lives in the Llanelli area with her husband and four children.

PC Kereen Thomas

PC Kereen Thomas has been a police officer in Carmarthen for almost five years. She has worked as part of the neighbourhood policing team for almost three years on the Johnstown and Trinity beat. Prior to joining Dyfed-Powys Police she was an accounts manager for a small engineering firm for seventeen years. In addition to her beat duties she is also trained as a sexual offences liaison officer. PC Thomas is away from Neighbourhood Policing duties until January 2011.

PCSO Sylvia Davies-Morris

Collar Number: 8024

PCSO Sylvia Davies-Morris joined Dyfed-Powys Police as a PCSO in Burry Port in February 2005. She has been in Carmarthen since February 2006. She previously worked for eighteen years for HSBC bank.

Attend neighbourhood policing meetings, report crime and anti-social behaviour, join in community activities and Neighbourhood Watch, and visit your local council for information on community safety schemes in your area.

Discuss community issues with your Neighbourhood Policing Team and have the chance to influence their priorities.

Speak with your local police in confidence.

  • Trinity College Tower Block – Thursdays between 10.30pm and 11.30am
  • Carmarthen Leisure Centre – First Monday each month between 6pm and 7pm
  • Q.E. High – Every Wednesday between 12.30pm and 1.30pm (This is only for students at the school, staff and parents)
