What We Have Done

  • Kidwelly: Anti-social behaviour involving vehicles in Parc Stephens
    High-visibility patrols, house-to-house enquiries, stop-check of vehicles, drivers advised about their behaviour.
  • Trimsaran: Off-road bikes near the leisure centre
    High-visibility patrols, house-to-house enquiries, leading to a reduction in calls received.
  • Llangyndeyrn: Speeding and off-road bikes in Four Roads
    Parking issues in Bryn Deri.  Mini-motors in Maes Y Wern, Carway
    Working with Carmarthenshire County Council’s Highway Department, drawing up proposals to combat speeding in the area.

The area covered by the team includes Kidwelly, Trimsaran, Pontyates, Carway, Meinciau, Pontantwn, Llangyndeyrn, Cloigyn and Banc y Capel

Who's Who

Inspector James Davies

Collar Number: -

Inspector James Davies has over twenty years police service, most recently within Carmarthenshire at Llanelli and Carmarthen and as neighbourhood policing inspector covering the Towy-Gwendraeth area, he is also a trained police public order commander. He has previously worked in the control room at Police Headquarters in Llangunnor, and has also served in Powys and with the Metropolitan Police in London, where he worked for the first 8 years of his police career, working primarily in the West and South London areas.

Sergeant Ian Francis

Collar Number: 1040

Sergeant Ian Francis transferred to Dyfed-Powys Police in May 2001 from the Metropolitan Police. He joined there in 1987 at Woolwich in South East London and was promoted as a Sergeant to Southwark Borough in 1998. He has worked in Carmarthen, Llwynhendy, Ammanford and the Performance Management Unit before being posted to Burry Port in April 2007. He previously worked in a concrete factory in Pembrey and lived in the lower Gwendraeth Valley, going to school in Llanelli.

PC Garry Cutler

Collar Number: 1093

PC Garry Cutler has been stationed at Kidwelly for five years, previously working at Carmarthen Town. He joined the neighbourhood policing team in December 2008, and is currently a member of the police Public Support Unit, which operates in public order assignments.

PCSO Liz Kempster

Collar Number: 8093

PCSO Liz Kempster joined the Kidwelly team in 2010. Prior to this she spent 4 years working in the Control Room in Carmarthen Headquarters.  She started in the Communication Centre as a Call Handler, later becoming an Incident Handler.

How You Can Take Action

Attend neighbourhood policing meetings, report crime and anti-social behaviour, join in community activities and Neighbourhood Watch, and visit your local council for information on community safety schemes in your area.

Neighbourhood Meetings

Discuss community issues with your Neighbourhood Policing Team and have the chance to influence their priorities.

  • Kidwelly RFC on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6pm
  • Pontyates Welfare Hall on the last Wednesday of the month at 6pm

Speak with your local police in confidence.

  • Trimsaran Leisure Centre, every Thursday, 10 - 11am
  • Pontyates Cafe, every Thursday, 11am - 12pm
  • Kidwelly Police Station, every Thursday, 2 - 3pm

  • Burry Port (West Side Harbour) – Monday 5th July at 10am
  • Pembrey (Randell Square) – Monday 5th July at 11am
  • Ponthenri (Outside the Welfare Hall) – Tuesday 6th July at 10am
  • Pontyates (at the entrance to Rhydyffynon) – Tuesday 6th July at 11am
  • Five Roads (Outside the Stag) – Tuesday 6th July at 12pm
