Llangennech, Bryn & Hendy Neighbourhood Policing Team

Local Priorities

Updated: 14/08/09
  1. Llangennech - Increased pub visits and evening patrols due to recent pub burglaries in the area
  2. Hendy – Underage drinking in various locations in Hendy

What We Have Done

  • Anti-social behaviour in Hendy park
High visibility patrols have been conducted, local youths have been spoken to and ASB warning letters have been issued to those who are causing annoyance at the location.
  • Vehicles parking inappropriately on Clayton Road, Hendy
Leaflet drop has been conducted in the street, warning vehicle owners about the manner in which they are parking their vehicles. This has resolved the issue.

Who's Who

Inspector James Davies

Collar Number: -

Inspector James Davies has twenty years’ police service, most recently within Carmarthenshire at Llanelli and Carmarthen and as neighbourhood policing inspector covering the Towy-Gwendraeth area. He has previously worked in the force control room at Police Headquarters in Llangunnor and has also served in Powys and with the Metropolitan Police in London.

Sergeant Ian Francis

Collar Number: 1040

Sergeant Ian Francis transferred to Dyfed-Powys Police in May 2001 from the Metropolitan Police. He joined there in 1987 at Woolwich in South East London and was promoted as a Sergeant to Southwark Borough in 1998. He has worked in Carmarthen, Llwynhendy, Ammanford and the Performance Management Unit before being posted to Burry Port in April 2007. He previously worked in a concrete factory in Pembrey and lived in the lower Gwendraeth Valley, going to school in Llanelli.

PC Jane Macdonald

Collar Number: 138

PC Jane Macdonald joined the Police service in 1996 and was first stationed in Pembroke Dock. She then moved to Tenby where she remained until 2003. Following returning from maternity leave she transferred to Carmarthenshire division and to Felinfoel until joining the neighbourhood policing team in Llwynhendy in May 2006. She is from Llanelli and spent a lot of her childhood in the Llwynhendy area, so is fully aware of problems and issues that are prevalent in this area. Her beat areas are Llangennech, Hendy and Llanedi.

PCSO Steve Lloyd

Collar Number: 8041

PCSO Steve Lloyd joined Dyfed-Powys Police in October 2006, working from the Llwynhendy office. He previously worked as a primary school teacher in Carmarthenshire, and following a number of years in the classroom decided that it was time to change direction and become a PCSO. He says, “The role appealed to me from a number of fronts, including the fact that it would be diverse in nature, that much of my time would be spent outdoors, and also the fact that it involves meeting and addressing the needs of the community.”
