Lampeter Neighbourhood Policing Team

Local Priorities

  1. Boy / girl racers – including speeding and anti-social driving through Lampeter town
  2. Increased visible police presence in Lampeter town – especially during late evening hours and at weekends
  3. Youths congregating in the town.  Youths are coming into town, especially on Youth Club evenings. Most do not attend the club, but instead are hanging around, playing football in the streets, and drinking alcohol

What We Have Done

  1. Boy / girl racers – including speeding and anti-social driving through Lampeter town
    Increased presence during evenings and weekends, with two Section 59 warnings issued in the last month
  2. Increased visible police presence in Lampeter town – especially during late evening hours and at weekends
    Officers have been conducting foot patrol of the town and additional officers have been patrolling the area
  3. Youths congregating in the town.  Youths are coming into town, especially on Youth Club evenings. Most do not attend the club, but instead are hanging around, playing football in the streets, and drinking alcohol
    Officers have been actively patrolling the town on Wednesday evenings and dealing with any issues that arise

Who's Who

Inspector Paul Bonning

Collar Number: -

Inspector Paul Bonning joined the Neighbourhood Policing Team in November 2009.  He previously worked in the Metropolitan Police for nearly 12 years before joining Dyfed Powys Police in 1998.  Since that time has been based at Pembroke Dock, Carmarthen and Aberystwyth Police Stations.  Although originally from Pembroke Dock now lives with his family in the Lampeter area. He said, “The favourite aspects of my role are helping people and making a difference.  I have noticed that Ceredigion has an excellent community spirit.  With my extensive operational experience I am looking for ward to working closely with the local community to improve the quality of life and target the issues that are identified as mattering most to them”.

Sergeant Alison Rees

Collar Number: 843

Sergeant Alison Rees was born and brought up in Pembrokeshire. She joined Avon and Somerset Constabulary in 1986 and spent 8 years policing in Bristol before transferring "home" to Dyfed -Powys in 1994. On return to the area she was stationed at Cardigan Police Station, and has served there both as a PC and then Sergeant. In January 2007 she joined the Neighbourhood Policing Team, with responsibility for supervising the team in the Mid and South Ceredigion area.

PC Richard Marshall

Collar Number: 956

PC Richard Marshall joined the police in 1996 whilst living near Aberystwyth and worked in Llanelli for five years before transferring to Lampeter where he became the Local Beat Manager. Richard moved again, up the road to Tregaron, in Spring 2007. Richard works closely with the local PACT panel which operates through 'Communities First'.

PCSO Ryan Jones

Collar Number: 8071

PCSO Ryan Jones joined as a PCSO in March 2007. He completed sixth form in QE High, Carmarthen in 2006 and worked in retail before joining the police. He enjoys working with members of the public and working closely with all communities in the area.

Mobile police station:

  • Cwrtnewydd / Gorsgoch area - first Wednesday of the month from 9.30 – 10.45am
  • Llanwnnen - first Wednesday of the month from 11am – 12 pm
  • Cellan / Llanfair Clydogau area - first Wednesday of the month from 1 – 1.45pm and 2 – 2.45pm
  • Llangybi - first Wednesday of the month from 3 – 4pm
  • Cribyn - first Thursday of the month from 9 – 10am
  • Felinfach - first Thursday of the month from 10.30am – 12.30pm
  • Dihewyd - first Thursday of the month from 3 – 4pm
