Neighbourhood Policing in Ceredigion
Neighbourhood Policing will help us to tackle crime and disorder
through a partnership approach, for example: ensuring lighting of public
spaces meets community needs, removing graffiti, removing abandoned
vehicles, fly tipping, providing facilities for young people, arson
prevention and considering crime and disorder planning in licensing
decisions.
‘Neighbourhoods’ can be described as Geographic areas, which are
of a size and character that best serves the needs of local communities.
Ceredigion has ten neighbourhood policing areas, which have been
divided up by amalgamating electoral wards. Each area will have its own
Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Our Aims
- To enable the Police to actively engage with local communities
and to identify with local people the most important concerns and
priorities for action. - To ensure that members of the Neighbourhood Policing Teams remain
in them long enough to develop an in-depth understanding of local
issues and establish a relationship of trust and respect within
communities. - Tailor the make up of Neighbourhood Policing Teams to local
circumstances and to include individuals from Community Safety Partners. - Engage local community partners in tackling neighbourhood priorities and feed back on the results of problem solving.
