Speeding in the village of Peniel

16/05/2012 - Speed Enforcement continues in the village of Rhydargaeau and Peniel which has resulted in motorists being reported. The Neighbourhood Policing Team will contiune to proactively targeting the area, carrying out ad-hoc operations with the hand held speed device.

A ‘Speed Awareness Day’ has recently been carried out in the village of Peniel.  This was held in conjunction with your Neighbourhood Police Team and Carmarthen County Council Road Safety Department. Motorists who were identified as having exceeded the speed limit, were given two options. Firstly, motorists were offered the opportunity to speak to pupils from Peniel school so that they could listen to their concerns in relation to speeding near their school.  If motorists did not wish to do this then they were dealt with by means of fixed penalty notice or summons.
The aim of the campaign is to educate drivers and raise awareness of the impact that speeding vehicles have on local communities, and the objective is to reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured each year on the roads in Carmarthenshire.
