Tuesday, January 11, 2011Mon 09 Jan 2012N/A
04/01/2012 - Bigyn NPT along with Home Watch Co-ordinator Adrian Rudderham has carried out and environmental scan of the area which showed no drinking hotspots within Bigyn 4. All previous hotspot areas were covered including Penyfan Quarry and Penyfan Park and no evidence of under-age drinking. PLTRA secretary and Town Councillor David Skivington have also been contacted and he has not received any complaints in relation to underage drinking either.
04/07/11 - An environmental scan was carried out
by NPT on Friday June 18th along with local home watch
co-ordinators. Main aim of the environmental scan was to try and identify
hotspot areas within the ward where youths congregate, drink and possibly
behave anti socially. Some of the hot spot areas included Penyfan Quarry,
Penyfan park, astroturf and various lanes all areas were litter free and vandal
free.3 youths have been spoken to and suitably advised in relation to
ASB at The Bwthyn.12/05/11 - Patrols have continued in
all of the identified hotspot areas. No youths have been found drinking and the
areas remain clean and tidy, suggesting that the problem seems to have
desisted. Pact asked that this remain as a priority due to the good weather.

04/01/2012 - In the lead up to Christmas additional patrols have been carried out at the location. Crime prevention advice has been issued to all stores and shoppers. A shoplifting initiative was held at the location on Friday 16th December with the following results achieved; 2 stop checks, 1 crime and a male arrested for Theft in Tesco. There have been 25 crimes since 15th November. 5 YRD’s have been issued by Bigyn NPT. We carried out a crime prevention road show with Brian Jones from Community safety. 15 residents were signed up to OWL and 15 residents were referred for the Bobby van scheme. Two prolific shoplifters from Swansea have been identified by NPT who were responsible for a theft in Parc Trostre.
04/12/2011 - During December period last year theft had increased dramatically at the location, therefore an increase of high visibility patrols has already began at the location. The vulnerable vehicle scheme has also began at the location in order to try an educate people about leaving valuable items on display in their vehicles.
04/11/2011 - This priority will continue in the lead up to Christmas. Thefts had increased dramatically during this period last year. Bigyn NPT will be issuing VVS in Trostre car park in order to remind shoppers of leaving items on display in their vehicles. The team is also looking at carrying out high visibility beat surgeries and possibly some shoplifting operations. There is an ANPR day planned for on the 3rd November which we hope to get involved in. There is also a crime prevention day in O2 on Saturday 29th October where Bigyn NPT will be giving out crime prevention advice and property marking mobiles.

04/01/2012 - Whilst carrying out foot patrols in the Bigyn area NPT has been able to speak to a number of home owners of vacant properties and issued them with crime prevention advice, regarding scrap metal thefts. Due to a burglary linking to scrap metal theft at Heol Ffynnon / Grant Street a leaflet drop (hot metal theft leaflet) has been carried out informing residents of the crime and also appealing for witnesses to come forward with names of offenders. Brian Jones attended the Bigyn Over 50’s group to discuss home security. Housing has provided us with a list of vacant council premises so that we can target these vulnerable properties whilst on patrol. Crime prevention messages have been sent out via OWL highlighting scrap metal thefts.
05/10/2011 - Over the month three burglaries have occurred within the ward. During previous months burglaries have been the highest crime for Bigyn ward, but it appears this month this is not true.
02/09/2011 - On August 15th an event took place at Penyfan Playing Fields. During the event NPT carried out a bike coding initiative. Crime prevention advice was also given to those who requested it in relation to keeping bikes safe and secure whilst in the house and whilst out and about. The day turned out to be a success. A number of children attended and took part in the bike coding initiative. Nicola Olsson from CCC Road Safety Dept also attended the event and carried out a road safety workshop. Whish turned out to be a great success.
