Quad Bike and Scrap Metal thefts in rural areas

    Metal Thefts. The Neighbourhood Policing Team attended various sites that have been targeted in the past and sites that could be targeted, security advice was offered and advice leaflets were distributed.

    04/05/2012 - The Neighbourhood Policing Team together with The Mid-Wales Roads Policing Unit, Targeting Team and uniform patrol officers continue to be tasked with conducting High Visibility Police patrols in rural areas.

    20/03/2012 - The Neighbourhood Policing Team are continually engaging with local farmers and conducting high visibility patrols in rural areas to provide reassurance and prevent crime.  The Team are attending Livestock Markets, disseminating crime prevention advice regarding Quad Bike and Farm Machinery thefts.  Also, officers have been encouraging local farmers to report any incidents of suspicious vehicles and activity in the rural areas immediately.

    13/02/2012 - The Neighbourhood Policing Team has visited numerous farms in the vicinity of Llangorse, giving security advice and reassurance in response to the recent spate of thefts. Further work is planned for Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) to visit local livestock markets, linking in with the agricultural community, issuing security advice and general advice in relation to rural crime.

    The Neighbourhood Policing Team are continually engaging with local farmers and conducting high visibility patrols in rural areas to provide reassurance and prevent crime. The NFU Annual General Meeting was attended by PCSO Hope and crime prevention advice given about keeping Quad Bikes and Farm Machinery Safe.

    04/05/2012 - Proactive patrols are continually conducted with the aim of identifying travelling criminals committing crime in Dyfed Powys Police area.

    20/03/2012 - High Visibility Police patrols continue in all rural areas and during the month of February there was only 1 crime reported concerning fuel theft. Officers continue to encouragelocal farmers to report any incidents of suspicious vehicles and activity in the rural areas immediately.

    The Neighborhood Policing Team continues to work in partnership with Powys County Council and The Mid-Wales Roads Policing Team in order to address issues of speeding.

    04/05/2012 - The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work closely with The Mid Wales Roads Policing Unit who actively patrol in the Neighbourhood area. A range of offences are targeted which not only include speeding but drink drivers, construction and use offences, Road traffic collisions/ Road Safety issues and all criminal offences.

    20/03/2012 - The Neighbourhood Policing Team is working in partnership with Powys County Council Highways Department to identify patterns of speeding by utilising Speed Indicator Devices (SID). The Mid-Wales Roads Policing Unit continues to actively patrol the area and enquiries are also being made with the Speed Camera Safety Partnership Department to try and secure the availability of the Speed Camera Van at specific locations in the rural area. The Neighbourhood Policing Team Officers have also parked police vehicles at strategic locations to provide high visibility and deterrence to speeding motorists at Llangorse and Lower Chapel.

    13/02/2012 - In order to address issues of Speeding in the Brecon area the Mid-Wales Roads Policing Unit continue to actively patrol throughout the area, with specific areas of concern being included as part of their patrol Strategy Plan. The Neighbourhood Policing Team is also trying to secure the use of Speed Indicator Devices (S.I.D) in areas of concern and is working closely with Partnership Agencies to further develop the use of these devices in the Brecon area.

  • The Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP) was launched in April at the Guild Hall in Brecon. This is a joint initiative between Police, Trading Standards, Environmental Health, Licensing, Powys Community Safety Partnership, Kaleidescope, Local Charities, Licensees, Powys Road Safety Partnership, Local Councillors and members of the public to reduce the volume of alcohol related crime and Anti-Social Behaviour in Brecon Town. Brecon Neighbourhood Management Team have played an integral part in setting up of the scheme,

    Insp Reed joined Dyfed-Powys Police force in 1992. He is committed to working with the communities of Breconshire.

    I joined Dyfed-Powys Police in 1997 and previously served in Llanelli and in Crosshands as a Traffic Officer, before, moving to Powys as custody Sergeant in Newtown. I have now undertaken the role of Neighbourhood Management Sergeant for Breconshire and work alongside my colleague Sergeant Mal James.

    I am committed to ensuring the success of the Neighbourhood Management Team in Breconshire, where I will be tackling the issues affecting local communities. This important work will be delivered along with partnership agencies, which will ensure that the area remains one of the safest places to live, work and visit in England and Wales.

    We have a highly-professional Neighbourhood Management Team in Breconshire and I am confident that we have the skills and excellent community relationships to achieve outstanding results.

    I joined Dyfed-Powys Police force in 1986, being stationed in Llanelli. Other stations worked at include Burry Port, Tenby, Llandrindod Wells and Hay-On-Wye. I came to Brecon in 1991 and was promoted to Sgt in 2007. I have now undertaken the role of Strategic Neighbourhood Management Sergeant for Breconshire and will work alongside my colleague Sergeant Adele Pitt. This is a new role that will provide support to the existing Neighbourhood Management Teams within Breconshire. Being a local person who was educated at Brecon High School and Swansea University. I am keen to work with the communities of Breconshire and provide a service that addresses the issues that have been identified as being of concern to each community. This will be achieved with the support of our partners with whom we have already built an excellent working relationship.

  • PCSO Steffan Rees

    PCSO Steffan Rees was a Special Constable in Carmarthen from September 2008 until October 2009 prior to joining the Llandysul Neighborhood Policing team in December 2009.  He transferred to Brecon Police Station in April 2011, now working with Brecon Neighborhood Policing Team.  Previously he had responsibility of St David’s ward, now he has responsibility of forging links with the rural neighbourhoods and farming communities.
