Anti-Social Behaviour with "Boy Racers" congregating and speeding in and around the town

    19/01/2012 - The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work closely with The Mid Wales Roads Policing Unit who actively patrols in the town and surrounding area.

    20/06/11 - The Brecon Neighbourhood Management Team (NMT), together with The Mid-Wales Roads Policing Unit continues to set-up initiatives to tackle these concerns.

    17/06/11 - Operation Loud – 27th May 2011. Brecon NMT and Mid Wales Roads Policing Unit carried out patrols targeting the anti social behaviour of drivers/motor vehicles in the Brecon Town area. The operation resulted in a number of fixed penalty tickets being issued and other offences identified and dealt with.

    The Neighbourhood Management Team (NMT) is dedicated in ensuring that high visibility patrols in key locations at relevant times are provided.

    19/01/2012 - The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to conduct high visibility patrols in and around the town to provide reassurance, prevent crime and Anti-Social Behaviour Incidents. Officers continue to work in partnership with retailers in the town and this led to the apprehension of a female who had been purchasing a quantity of alcohol for persons under 18 years old.  The female offender was interviewed and reported for the offence and issued with a Penalty Disposable Notice.

    15/07/11 - The Neighbourhood Management Team has continued
    reassurance patrols around Canal Road, Uplands Park, Skate Park
    Llanfaes, and Mount Street Infants School following reports of
    anti-social behaviour. Residents in the areas have been visited and
    provided with reassurance concerning the anti social behaviour which has
    been occurring in the various areas.  As a result of high visibility
    patrols conducted by the Neighbourhood Management Team a number of
    youths have been spoken to, their details obtained/ parents informed and
    alcohol confiscated. Residents have been encouraged to continue to
    contact police to report matters

    17/06/11 - Operation Trafalgar -13th and 14th May 2011. Brecon Neighbourhood Management Team (NMT) officers carried out foot patrols in Brecon town in the evening targeting anti social behaviour, alcohol related nuisance and underage drinking. A quantity of alcohol was seized from youths over the two nights, and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) referrals submitted. Further enquiries are being made to identify where the alcohol was purchased and to identify if any offences under the Licensing Act have been committed.

  • The Neighbourhood Policing Team attended various sites that have been targeted in the past and sites that could be targeted, security advice was offered and advice leaflets were distributed.

Inspector Steve Thomas 2064

  • Steve Thomas

    Inspector Steve Thomas joined Dyfed-Powys Police in July 1999 and started his police career in Pembroke Dock.  In 2001 he transferred to Llanelli where he enjoyed working as a response officer, a Detective constable and Sergeant of CID.

    He has also worked as a Sergeant in Section Stations and is fully aware of community issues that concern members of the public. In June 2010 he was promoted to Inspector and is committed to working with the communities of Breconshire.

    I joined Dyfed Powys Police in April 1985 and have served in the county of Powys at Brecon, Newtown and Ystradgynlais Police Stations. I have worked within the Road Traffic Department, as a Custody Sergeant and as a Response Sergeant.

    I have now undertaken the role of Neighbourhood Management Sergeant for Breconshire and will work alongside my colleague Sergeant Adele Pitt. This is a new role that will provide support to the existing Neighbourhood Management Teams within Breconshire.

    Being a local person who was educated at Brecon High School I am keen to work with the communities of Breconshire and provide a service that addresses the issues that have been identified as being of concern to each community. This will be achieved with the support of our partners with whom we have already built an excellent working relationship.

    I joined Dyfed-Powys Police in 1997 and previously served in Llanelli and in Crosshands as a Traffic Officer, before, moving to Powys as custody Sergeant in Newtown. I have now undertaken the role of Neighbourhood Management Sergeant for Breconshire and work alongside my colleague Sergeant Rod Bowen.

    I am committed to ensuring the success of the Neighbourhood Management Team in Breconshire, where I will be tackling the issues affecting local communities. This important work will be delivered along with partnership agencies, which will ensure that the area remains one of the safest places to live, work and visit in England and Wales.

    We have a highly-professional Neighbourhood Management Team in Breconshire and I am confident that we have the skills and excellent community relationships to achieve outstanding results.

  • Sara Meredith

    PC Sara Meredith joined Dyfed Powys in 2003, initially stationed in Llandrindod Wells, later attached to the Customer Service Unit in Powys. She is now stationed in Brecon, taking over from PC Andy Pole as an additional Beat Manager to work along side PC Steve Nichols and the Neighbourhood Policing Team. Sara lives locally and is fully aware of local issues and needs. She is a self-motivated officer and faces new challenges head-on.

  • PCSO Simon Beaton has responsibility of St Davids ward and in particular the Industrial area at Ffrwdgrech and Christ College.

PCSO Andrew Rogers 8091

  • Andrew Rogers

    Andy Rogers originally comes from Crumlin, a small town outside Blackwood, Gwent. He attended University and obtained a degree in Sociology with Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Cardiff. After leaving University Andy worked as a Support Worker for adults with autism and behavioural problems. Andy enjoyed this role which he found very rewarding however he has always wanted to work with the Police and applied to become a PCSO and was accepted by Dyfed Powys in March of this year and was posted to Llwynhendy. Andy is a keen sportsman particularly football, rugby and squash and supports the Gwent Dragons.

PCSO Steffan Rees 8035

  • PCSO Steffan Rees

    PCSO Steffan Rees was a Special Constable in Carmarthen from September 2008 until October 2009 prior to joining the Llandysul Neighborhood Policing team in December 2009.  He transferred to Brecon Police Station in April 2011, now working with Brecon Neighborhood Policing Team.  He is responsible for the St David’s Ward.

    SPC Williams has been a committed member of the police family since joining Dyfed-Powys Police in 1994, and has enjoyed a variety of roles during his service.

    He lives in Brecon with his partner and daughter and is a foreman in the construction industry and is employed by a long established local company.

    In his down time he enjoys hill walking, weight lifting and playing his guitar, mandolin and singing in his band.

    I joined Dyfed-Powys Police in March 2011. I am very keen to be seen helping the local community. I work as a caretaker in a large Secondary School in the Valleys and during my spare time I enjoy Motorsports and fitness.

    I joined Dyfed-Powys Police in March 2011. I was educated at Christ College and am currently finishing my degree in photojournalism. I chose to come to Brecon as it is the place I grew up and I am keen to work within the community that I know.

    My name is Rhodri Herbert and I joined Dyfed-Powys Police as a Special Constable in March 2011. In my leisure time I enjoy keeping fit by running and swimming and when I am not policing I am a swimming coach. I am looking forward to working with the community and helping to solve some of the problems.
