NMT officers have worked closely with the Head teacher at the primary school, to alleviate this problem. New procedures have been put in place by the school for dropping the children off in the mornings & this has stopped vehicles obstructing pavements. A letter has been sent out by Builth Wells NMT to parents advising them of offences & patrols are being carried out by Officers & PCSO’s.

The Groe & Builth Wells TownMonday, February 14, 2011Thu 24 Nov 2011N/A
16/11/2011 - This is still one the most important issues to our community that is still raising its head at PACT meetings. We have done everything that we can in conjunction with our partner agencies. Patrols are still being carried out regularly by officers & PCSO’s in order to identify any offenders. A petition is in circulation by the community to present to PCC for more enforcement wardens.
17/08/11 - A letter has been prepared & distributed asking for co production with residents that live around the Groe & The Lant area (North Rd, Pendre, Broadway, Church Street). Discussions have & are still in the process of taking place with Rachel Palmer at Tidy Towns. The free disposable bags that were supplied by the council are now running low & this is something that our partners are looking at. We are continuing to work with our partners to find a long term resolution to the problem, but due to us now having to seek new funding streams it may take a while to sort out.
14/07/11 - This is an area where complaints are still being voiced by residence. A number of residence have been given dog fouling bags to carry with them when they are out on the Groe with their families & are going to challenge dog walkers that they see, who appear to not be in control of their dogs. I am aware of a local petition that is being set up in relation to wanting individuals dealt with for this issue. I have spoken to a number of residents again urging that they volunteer the information of people responsible in order that we can put the information forward to environmental health to secure a prosecution. One dog owner has been spoken in relation to allowing the dog to roam freely. Through liaison with Powys County Council discussions have taken place with Tidy Towns as to organising a small awareness raising event on the Groe one evening during the summer.
