Speeding on main A470

  • Llandinam
    Thursday, February 17, 2011
    Tue 29 Nov 2011

    1)    Task Mid Wales Road Policing Unit to conduct regular Speed enforcement Checks.
    2)    Set up speed perception operation for residents in conjunction with Road Policing Unit.
    3)    Liaise with Speed Enforcement Officer to establish if there is a suitable site in the village.
    4)    Liaise with VOSA to establish if they check tachographs for speeding if registration number is given by member of the public.
    5)    Liaise with Road Policing Unit Inspector regarding legality of residents conducting high visibility presence at roadside.

12/11/2011 - Speeding is still an ongoing concern in Llandinam along the main A470. It has been highlighted that there is a particular problem on the bends at the western side of the village. Residents have asked if the speed reduction vehicle can park in the village rather than in the national speed limit zone, and if the Road Policing Unit can continue with periodic speed checks.

12/10/2011 - 1175 NPT llanidloes along with 115 RPU Newtown met with several members of the Llandinam public today in response to speed issues raised at a recent meeting.
The members perception of speed was tested and it was of some surprise to them that their estimated speed of vehicles was on average 5-7 mph more than what the vehicles were actually doing.
Speed equipment was explained and used and all found the two hour exercise very interesting and educational and thanked police for the exercise and will be passing their experiences on to other members of the public.

17/05/11 - PC Duncombe has worked with the Roads Policing Unit in Llandinam and Caersws and Llanidloes areas with Officers from Newtown Road Policing Unit. A number of fixed penalty notices and speed awareness course offers were issued. A further operation has been planned for the middle of May.

Increase in mobile Police Patrols in village

  • Llandinam
    Thursday, February 17, 2011
    Tue 29 Nov 2011

    1)    Neighbourhood Policing Officer to conduct mobile patrols when available.
    2)    Task Llanidloes Officers and Road Policing Unit with conducting mobile patrols in the area when duties permit.

12/11/2011 - Llandinam Village remains a patrol priority for the Llanidloes NPT officers, priority patrols are now being carried out in residential areas and adjoining rural areas.

12/10/2011 - The lack of Police presence was discussed in Llandinam. It was decided that foot patrol was not suited to the village, but it would be nice if mobile patrols could be carried out throughout the village and surrounding areas rather than just travelling through on the A470. There were no key times set for patrols. Although the number of mobile patrols has increased since the previous meeting, it was decided that this should still be a priority.

17/02/11 - The residents have asked that Police vehicles drive around the village when able to, rather than remaining on the A470. Llanidloes NMT will e-mail local Officers regarding this request. Times are to be varied, with patrols being conducted during the daytime and over night.

04/11/2011 - Llanidloes NPT produced a crime prevention article for the Llandinam Listener.

12/10/2011 - This meeting was poorly attended. This was primarily due to the late advertising. The next meeting date was set as Thursday 12th January 2012.
