    • YFC Rally
      and Barn Dance took place at Meifod, and was attended by around 1200 persons.
      Welshpool NMT and Special Constables attended and assisted the SIA doorstaff
      with monitoring the persons accessing the event, and any ASB or underage
      drinking at the event. Good partnership working with the organisers and SIA
      staff resulted in a fairly event free pleasant evening for all revellers.

Sergeant Darren Brown 144

  • Darren Brown

    Sergeant Darren Brown joined Dyfed/Powys Police in 1990 and has spent his career in Montgomeryshire, covering response Policing, custody Sergeant Duties and supervisory duties. Darren returned from Newtown to Welshpool as the Police Neighbourhood Management Team Supervisor in September 2010.

    ‘As the Supervisor of the Neighbourhood Management Team in the Welshpool section covering Welshpool, Llanfyllin and Llanfair Caereinion the aim of our team is to increase our support and engagement with our communities and partner agencies to provide a visible presence and to resolve quality of life issues that affect  the day to day life of our communities’.

  • Jim Baines

    PC Jim Baines joined the police in September 2004. He previously spent eight years working as a volunteer with young people in the town, and then worked for four years in residential care with young people with behavioural problems due to their life experiences. He was born, bred and educated in Welshpool; he knows the town well and this knowledge and his experience of working with young people helps him in his Neighbourhood Policing role.

  • Lindsay Sweetman

    PC Lindsay Sweetman joined Dyfed-Powys Police in 2001. She is originally from Pembrokeshire and moved to Welshpool in 1985 when her father joined Dyfed-Powys Police. She was educated locally, attending Maesydre Primary School and Llanfair Caereinion High School. She has been stationed at Welshpool for her whole police career, but has also spent time in the Public Protection Unit at Newtown, having an interest and training in Sexual Offences and Child Protection. She joined the Neighbourhood Policing Team at Welshpool in January 2008. She is a self-motivated officer and likes to face new challenges head-on.

  • Sarah Bebb

    As a Police Community Support Officer within Welshpool, PCSO Sarah Bebb has the additional portfolio of forging links with the communities' schools. Drawing on her previous experience as a member of the Special Constabulary within the area she is able to utilise this experience to benefit the wider community.

    SC Richard Waldron joined the Welshpool Neighbourhood Management Team in July 2007. A former pupil of Welshpool High School, Richard is currently completing a BSc in Police Sciences at the University of Glamorgan. Richard still lives locally and enjoys working in the community he grew up in.
