The Neighborhood Policing Team continues to work in partnership with Powys County Council and The Mid-Wales Roads Policing Team in order to address issues of speeding.
08/05/2012 - Whilst the speeding issues in Ynyswen/Penycae have been alleviated by the ongoing road works in Ynyswen, the area has continued to be subject of monitoring by both the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) and Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and we have received no complaints of speeding traffic in March. As the road is now fully open again we shall continue to monitor the situation. We are also hoping to run another speed awareness day involving the Road Safety Partnership and Penycae CP School in the near future. The Neighbourhood Policing Team Officers have received a couple of calls in relation to the speed of traffic, in particular buses, on the housing estates and concerns have been expressed by local residents who fear for the safety of children who play football on the street etc, and the possible dangers this and excessive speed brings. In order to immediately address this issue, the Neighbourhood Policing Team has spoken to management at the bus company and will patrol at relevant times in order to monitor traffic speed and to speak to children in relation to road safety etc.
03/04/2012 - In order to address issues of Speeding in the Ystradgynlais area the Mid-Wales Roads Policing Unit continue to actively patrol throughout the area, with specific areas of concern being included as part of their patrol Strategy Plan. A total of 6 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN’s) were issued in February for speeding in the Neighbourhood Area.
08/02/2012 - In order to address issues of Speeding in the Ystradgynlais area the Mid-Wales Roads Policing Unit continue to actively patrol throughout the area, with specific areas of concern being included as part of their patrol Strategy Plan. Anti Social Behaviour

Ynyswen and CoelbrenTuesday, January 3, 2012Tue 08 May 2012
The Neighbourhood Management Team (NMT) continues to work closely with Youth Services in an attempt to engage with youngsters on the Ynyswen Estate. Part of the youth annoyance problem is due to a lack of facilities and isolation from other local facilities i.e. youth club facilities in Ystradgynlais.
08/05/2012 - In relation to Anti Social Behaviour in Ynyswen we have received no Youth Annoyance related calls during March since increasing patrols on the estate. The Neighbourhood Policing Team Officers also continue to patrol “hot spot” areas in an attempt to reduce under age drinking and general youth annoyance. Regularly licensed premises checks are carried out in an attempt to reduce Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and promote the Behave or Be Banned Scheme (B.O.B.B.) Officers continue to take positive action against offenders who commit offences whilst intoxicated and in the vicinity of licensed premises.
03/04/2012 - The Neighbourhood Policing Team officers continue to provide high visibility patrols in order to address Anti-Social Behaviour issues. Regular foot patrols allow officers to engage with community members and residents. There was a good attendance at the Upper Tawe Council meetings and attending officers were able to engage with residents regarding a housing matter of concern. A new program of Walkabouts with Councillors has been initiated in an attempt to highlight local issues and work in partnership to solve them.
08/02/2012
- Estate walkabouts have been undertaken around both the Ynyswen and Coelbren housing estates. Police were accompanied by local Community Councillors and a representative from Powys County Council. A number of issues have been highlighted that will be looked at by both Powys County Council and Police in order to try and improve the conditions on the estates. Information has also been shared between the Police and the Council with a view to enhancing the Partnership working relationship. It was a worthwhile exercise and a number of residents spoke to those present with specific issues as well as a reported crime that wouldn’t have come to light had the walkabout not taken place.
- The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to conduct high visibility patrols to provide reassurance, prevent crime and Anti-Social Behaviour Incidents.
