Resident Parking Areas Only
08/12/2011 - This issue had been raised by some residents who were concerned that on weekends they were unable to park outside / near their home address due to rugby / football matches which occur on the weekend. PCSO Payne has liaised with John McEvoy from Carmarthenshire Council. A site visit was conducted in Ynyswen. Mr McEvoy explained that this was a town centre scheme only. It was designed to relieve pressure on residents near the town centre shopping area who were being affected by shoppers who did not use town centre car parks. Therefore it could not be implemented. If it had been a viable solution then the following would have applied. It would cost £30 per car per year, once implemented the scheme could never be revoked. The consultation phases include 5 separate strands of consultation which takes 4 years to work through. It would have been “policed” by the council but they do not employ a traffic warden who would cover rural areas on the weekend, so it would not be “policed”.
