Kidwelly Child Abuse Verdict
“This was a very protracted and complicated inquiry involving a very
secretive group,” said Chief Inspector Richard Lewis. “There was
systematic and prolonged abuse of children involving a limited number of
abusers.
“We know this case did not impact on the wider community, but
acknowledge the suffering which the victims had to endure over all those
years. They showed great courage in coming forward to report it.
“We are committed to doing all we can to deal with offenders who
abuse children and we would encourage anyone who has experienced any
sort of abuse to come forward and tell us. We promise to listen to them
and deal with the concerns sensitively and, where it is appropriate, to
carry out a thorough investigation.”
“We are grateful to the partner agencies which have worked with us
throughout this inquiry,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark
Bergmanski. “Our focus now is on the victims and I hope this verdict
will bring an end to this horrific chapter of their lives.
“The details of this case have been extremely harrowing not only
for the victims, but also the officers who have supported them
throughout this process.”
