Metal theft crackdown with multi agency operation in Cross Hands

Neighbourhood policing officers from Cross Hands got together with colleagues from Carmarthenshire County Council this week to carry out an operation targeting metal thefts.

During the operation a number of persons were stop checked and questioned by both Police and Environmental Enforcement Officers.

And as a result three people have been reported for No Waste Carriers Licence and No Waste Transfer Notes and will be dealt with by the council’s Environmental Officers.

Two persons from the Pembroke and Llanelli area were arrested on suspicion of theft of scrap from the Tumble area. They’ve been interviewed and bailed pending further enquiries.

“As a result of this operation search warrants were also executed at a farm in Llannon,” said Detective Inspector Steve Cockwell. “This search led to the seizure of a large quantity of metal scaffolding poles, supporting metals and wood and parking mats, which have been identified as having been stolen.

“Operations like this are a vital part of the ongoing battle against metal thefts, which is a problem across the whole of the county. We will continue to carry out these joint events, and I’d appeal to any member of the public who has information about anyone who may be involved in scrap metal theft to please contact police on 101.”
