Police and Emergency Services continue to search for Missing person

Dyfed-Powys Police and emergency services colleagues are continuing to search for David John Williams, 63, who has been missing since Saturday 10 December 2011.

Mr David John Williams was reported as a missing person by a family member at 22:00 that evening when he didn’t return home from Newcastle Emlyn Rugby club.

Chief Inspector Martin Tavener said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who have provided information and help regarding this investigation to date – but would ask them to refrain from assisting the search.

“The river level is currently high and fast running, and coupled with the weather conditions this can be extremely dangerous and best left to our Fire Service colleagues to manage. In addition, our Family Liaison Officers are working with the family and supporting them at this difficult time.”

Police are particularly concerned due to his age, the length of time missing and the cold and wet weather conditions.

It’s believed that Mr Williams left the club at around 19:30pm. He was seen by a witness walking towards the river, which is where Police have concentrated their efforts – utilizing a variety of search methods including the Specialist Dog Unit.

If members of the public have seen Mr Williams or have information to his whereabouts please call Dyfed-Powys Police on 101.

Mr Williams is 63 years-old and lives in the Cwmhiraeth, Drefach Felindre area He was wearing dark trousers, a shirt and tie and dark coat. He was travelling on foot.
