Burton Boat theft incident: Three arrested
Thanks to effective and proactive policing three males have been arrested in Burton following thefts of Boat Engines from across Pembrokeshire.
The suspects, all from Latvia but living in the London area, were apprehended with the property by Dyfed-Powys Police Officers at approx 4:00am on 13 January 2012.
Inspector Gareth Thomas says: “The arrests were the successful conclusion to a concerted effort to target criminals from other areas who come to Pembrokeshire to commit crime. We regularly deploy resources around the county to support vulnerable areas, and criminals should note that our current activity means we are not a soft touch. Furthermore, when we catch these people we will do all we can to bring them to justice.
“I would also like to reassure the people of Pembrokeshire that this type of crime is very rare. But I urge you to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police, especially vehicle descriptions, registration details and the direction of travel. Dyfed-Powys Police is committed to ensure the recent successes in apprehending travelling criminals will continue.”
In addition, Dyfed-Powys Police would also like ask boat owners to check their boat as some engines recovered have not yet been identified. It is also important to ensure people maintain security arrangements.
