Three arrested on suspicion of series of rural burglaries.

Brecon police have arrested three men from the Cardiff area on suspicion of committing burglaries in the rural areas of Clyro and Talgarth.

The three were arrested on 10th January 2012.

The offenders have been charged. A 20 year old man has already pleaded guilty to theft and burglary offences and been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and the remaining two men, aged 21 and 24, will appear in court in due course.

“These offences were committed in daytime hours at both occupied and unoccupied premises,” said Detective Inspector Dave Guiney. “A quad bike and electrical tools were stolen and later recovered by police.

“The offenders were using a white Peugeot Expert van and  were visiting farms. It’s alleged they used the pretext that they were wanting to buy old batteries.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to remind people to be vigilant and to report any suspicious vehicles or people to the police.

“We’re also seeing a few thefts of quad bikes at the moment. So farmers should look to their security arrangements and make sure their possessions are properly locked up or locked away.”
