Force flies the flag for LGB History Month

Flying the flag during LGB History Month

Dyfed Powys Police will be flying the rainbow flag above some of its buildings in February in support of lesbian gay bisexual transgender history month.

The flag will be flying across the force as part of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) History Month which takes place every year in February and celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community.

Dyfed Powys Police, which this year was listed 75th among the top 100 UK employers in the Stonewall Equality Index, has made a strong commitment to become an employer of choice for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff.

“Flying the flag throughout LGB History Month sends a clear signal that Dyfed Powys Police promote the human rights and equal treatment of people within the LGBT community both within the force and our wider community,” said Superintendent Claire Parmenter, the force’s Diversity Champion for sexual orientation. “Our aim is to ensure that our staff and our communities recognise the emphasis that we place on Equality and Diversity and I am pleased that the positive feedback received from LGB community members has supported that.

“‘We’d also like to hear from our LGB and T communities to know what does it mean to you that we fly the flag in recognition of LGB and T history month?

“Anyone who would like to give us feedback can do so by emailing: communitycohesion@dyfed-powys.pnn.police.uk
