Welshpool police clamp down on cannabis cultivation.
Welshpool Police report that two drugs warrants have been executed during the month of January whereby officers located cannabis cultivation offences. One of these in the general area of Llanfair Caereinion was substantial and a female was arrested at the location and is currently on Police bail pending a charging decision.
The second warrant was executed on a residential estate in Welshpool where officers found rooms set aside for the artificial growing of cannabis plants. One male was arrested and is also on bail pending a charging decision.
These incidents once again show that Welshpool Police are committed to dealing positively with drugs offences in Welshpool town and the surrounding areas.
“We will not tolerate drugs misuse whatsoever and encourage members of our communities to report their suspicions to us so that we can deal with individuals and groups rapidly and effectively,” said Sergeant Darren Brown. “We don’t have a major drugs problem in the area, but there are a minority of people who will continue to use drugs in their everyday life, this can have an impact on crime and anti social behaviour in the area.
“Quality of life issues such as drug and alcohol misuse and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and we will endeavour to deal with these issues positively with our partner agencies to improve the quality of life for our residents.
“If you have suspicions of drugs misuse in the area then please report them on 101, the non-emergency contact number or via e-mail at welshpooltownnpt@dyfed-powys.pnn.police.uk.
