Sex offender sentenced

A 54 year-old male has been sent to prison for six years and 11 months for Sexual assault against a child.

Daniel Brian Lewis, of Mountain Ash, appeared at Merthyr Crown Court on 4 March 2013 and pleaded guilty to Sexual Assault and a variety of Offences in regards to taking and possessing Indecent images of children.

The incident took place in November 2011, and in addition to the sentence handed out, the offender will also be on the Sex Offender’s Register for an indefinite period.

The successful conclusion of this investigation was a result of the protracted work of Public Protection Unit of CID.

Detective Sergeant Day Lantos of the Dyfed-Powys Police Public protection Unit said: “This is a particularly satisfying sentence and thoroughly deserved due to the manner in which this individual had conducted himself following the incident. However, Dyfed-Powys Police is committed to supporting the victims of sexual assault and successfully prosecuting the offenders.

“Dyfed-Powys Police would like to reassure the public that it treats, and will continue to treat, all allegations of sexual assaults very seriously and sensitively. We work with a range of partner agencies to ensure all victims receive as much support, help and advice as they need and that all allegations are investigated thoroughly.”
