Local Priorities

  1. Middletown – Speeding vehicles in village, general area of Bridden Pub
  2. Parking – Trewern, Parc Caradog. Vehicles causing obstructions, generally between 8 - 9am and 3 - 3.45pm Monday – Friday

Llanymynech, Llandisilio, Four Crosses, Llandrinio and Crew Green:

  1. Speeding along the B4393 between Four Crosses and Crew Green
  2. Speeding on the A483 through Llanymynech
  3. General anti-social behaviour in Four Crosses and Llandrinio

What We Have Done

Llanymynech, Llandisilio, Four Crosses, Llandrinio and Crew Green:

  • Speeding along the B4393 at Four Crosses and Llandrinio
    9 verbal warnings and 12 fixed penalty tickets issued
  • Parking outside Spar in Four Crosses
    2 verbal warnings, no tickets
  • Lorry drivers using mobile phones whilst driving
    Warning letters given to Wynnstay Farmers Llansantfridd and Criggion Quarry, Criggion. No offences seen since

Who's Who

Sergeant Ian Barrett

Collar Number: 1087

Sergeant Ian Barrett has been a serving police officer since 1985. He transferred to Dyfed Powys in 2002, initially working as a custody officer at Newtown.  As a supervisor of the Neighbourhood and Rural Policing Team, Sergeant Barrett is responsible for implementing and delivering ‘Community Policing’ throughout the Welshpool, Llanfyllin and Llanfair Caereinon sections.

PC Andy Price

Collar Number: 679

PC Andy Price joined in 2001 and has been stationed in Welshpool for his whole career. He is an experienced police officer who has spent time working in the Prisoner Handling Unit at Newtown. Andy was brought up on a farm before leaving school and joining the army in 1979; since then he has been a head herdsman on a busy farm near Ellesmere, as well as being a manager at a food factory before joining the police. Andy is a qualified pilot and loves to spend his spare time in the air when the weather permits.

PCSO Sarah Bebb

Collar Number: 8055

As a Police Community Support Officer within Welshpool, PCSO Sarah Bebb has the additional portfolio of forging links with the communities' schools. Drawing on her previous experience as a member of the Special Constabulary within the area she is able to utilise this experience to benefit the wider community.

PCSO Gary Gwilt

Collar Number: 8054

PCSO Gary Gwilt joined Welshpool Neighbourhood Policing Team in January 2007, after working as an accredited MoT Tester in Newtown. Gary also worked as a Special Constable for six years in Newtown. He has an additional responsibility of forging links with the licensing trade and implementing the ‘Behave or be Banned Scheme’ to reduce alcohol-related incidents.
