Freedom of Information Unit

The Freedom of Information Unit at Dyfed Powys Police Headquarters has been responsible for the processing of requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 since 01 January 2005.  Requests for information that fall under the Data Protection Act 1998 are processed by the Data Protection Department.

In addition to the processing of requests for information the Freedom of Information Unit is also responsible for the maintenance of the FOI Publication Scheme. The publication of information via the Force website is carried out with the assistance of the Web Communications Officer who is based within the Force Corporate Services Department.

Dyfed Powys Police has seen an increase in Freedom of Information requests year on year since the 01 January 2005. This has not only had an impact on the staff within the Freedom of Information Unit but also has an impact on the departments and divisions who provide the information requested to the Freedom of Information Unit for processing. The Force receives requests on a variety of subjects.  The Freedom of Information Unit aims to publish a variety of requests that may be of interest to individuals or organisations, via the FOI disclosure log.
