UNISON
The Dyfed-Powys Police branch of UNISON consists of approximately 350 members who are employed by Dyfed-Powys Police Authority, and are divided throughout the force area.
The Branch has an executive that consists of the Branch Chairperson, the Branch Secretary, the Equalities Officer, The Health and Safety Officer, The Branch Treasurer, the Welfare Officer, the Senior Managers Secretary, the Education Officer and the Youth Officer. Staff Representatives are in place throughout the force area to support the Branch Members and to give assistance to the Branch Executive.
The Unison Branch is the only recognised trade union within Dyfed-Powys Police, along with the Police Federation who support Police Officers only and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) who represent senior Police Officers.
The Unison Branch is there to help members in all matters of employment, which would include Legal help, representation in Grievance and Discipline, Heath and Safety, Equality issues, Pay Education and Welfare. All are done in confidence and with trained personnel within the Branch.
The Unison Branch can also help with matters outside of employment for example road traffic accidents, road rescue and all types of insurance, saving plans, credit cards, tax refunds, welfare, holidays, a free will service and education through the Open College and other institutions.
The Unison Branch has a good working relationship with the Police Authority and with their colleagues within the Dyfed-Powys-Police Service. The Unison Branch is well represented on numerous committees within the force, to look after the interest of Support Staff Members.
