Request 1 & 2:
For the months of January through to December 2023 and - if available - for the first 3 months of 2024, please disclose:
1) The total number of vehicles in your police force which were damaged in pothole-related accidents.
(Please would you provide description/details e.g 'vehicle written off'- but only if this does not demand more time/money than is stated under the Act. Otherwise, just the total number of damaged vehicles is sufficient).
2) The total monetary value of pothole-related damage caused to your force's vehicles.
Response:
I can confirm that there is no information held by Dyfed-Powys Police due to the fact that this information is not recorded by Dyfed-Powys Police.
Please note: What we would usually receive is a defect in regards to a noise from suspension or a damaged wheel but to decipher this from a pot hole , curb, obstruction within the road would be impossible and would rely solely on the officer stipulating this within the defect they submit.
Due to this, it would be impossible to extract any form of data specific to pot holes only and from my personal overview I cannot specifically think of any I’ve seen relating to damaging a Police vehicle.
It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
(This is a response under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and disclosed on 25/04/2024)
