Honour Based Violence can happen when someone mistakenly believes a person has brought shame to their family or community by doing something not in keeping with the traditional beliefs of their religion or culture.

Forced Marriage is where one or both people are pressurised or abused to force them to consent to marriage. It is recognised in the UK as a form of domestic or child abuse and a serious abuse of human rights.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures involving the partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or any other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. FGM is illegal in the UK.
