Are you a keen problem-solver, ready to tackle the issues that matter and affect the people of Dyfed-Powys? Could you see yourself being the visible, reassuring link between communities and the police – building trust and confidence?

If that’s a yes – being a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) could be the ideal role for you!

Police Community Support Officers have been a vital part of neighbourhood policing here in Dyfed-Powys since 2003. They spend most of their time in the communities they serve, building relationships, breaking down barriers, and working with those communities and partners to solve problems they may face. They also provide key support to their police officer colleagues using the strong knowledge and relationships they build.

Our PCSOs are enthusiastic individuals who demonstrate a real commitment to making communities safer. Although sometimes challenging, fewer roles can be more varied, interesting and meaningful. You could find yourself connecting with and reassuring with residents though foot patrols and community engagement events, responding to incidents of anti-social behaviour and looking for long term solutions to community issues, or carrying out visits and giving crime prevention advice to help people feel safe. On other days you may be guarding a scene, or carrying out house-to-house enquiries for a recent crime there are so many ways to make a difference. We’re looking for people who really care about their community, who are able to work with all of our communities in a way that builds trust and confidence, and who can make decisions and apply the powers you have as a PCSO in a fair and balanced way. In return, we’ll provide you with all the training, support, and equipment you need to get started, as well as plenty of opportunities to keep developing with specialist courses and roles within your team.

Here in Dyfed-Powys, we know that to maintain the trust and confidence of all of the diverse communities we serve, we must reflect and understand them. That’s why we are particularly keen to receive applications from people who have in the past been underrepresented in policing
