At 2.13am on Friday, February 8, Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a burglary at the Coop in Llandovery.
The front left of the store has been seriously damaged where it would appear at stolen JCB has been used to remove the stand alone ATM. The JCB was left abandoned in the Coop car park with the keys still in the ignition.
The JCB was stolen from a nearby farm and was last seen by the owner at 3pm on Thursday, February 7.
No entry to the store was gained.
The police investigation is being led by CID and all lines of enquiry are being followed. House to house enquiries have already taken place in the community.
Temporary Detective Inspector Sian Davies said: “We are investigating all possible lines of enquiry to find out who was involved in committing this burglary. I would urge anyone with information to contact the police on 101.
“In the meantime, I must urge all farmers or anyone who owns farming or heavy machinery to make sure they follow simple security measures such as securing your property, removing keys from the ignition and storing them in a safe place.
"Consideration should also be given to security marking equipment.”

A security marking event to crack down on rural crime is being planned by Carmarthenshire’s Rural Crime Team.
