Detective Superintendent Andy John said: “Dyfed Powys Police welcomes the findings of the HMIC inspection into child protection work. Protecting children and vulnerable people is a priority for the organisation. The report highlights good examples of the force response to safeguarding children, working with partner agencies, and pursuing criminal investigative opportunities. There are areas for development identified by the HMIC which the force is committed to implementing. A review of resourcing has been undertaken to ensure that there are sufficient specialist trained staff working within child protection. In addition, the force is committed to improving its response to protecting children identified at risk of sexual exploitation. It is pleasing to see that the HMIC acknowledge that staff are highly committed, knowledgeable, and dedicated to providing the best possible outcomes for children.”
