Thanks to a great response from the local community the launch of the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in the Oakford, Llwyncelyn area was a success.

PCSO Trish Smith – who is running the initiative – welcomed attendees on the 27th August and gave them an overview of the scheme and what’s expected from all parties involved.

She says: “The scheme has been very successful with 35 members so far."

Neighbourhood Watch is one of the biggest and most successful crime prevention initiatives ever. It is about communities and getting together with neighbours to cut crime and improve the links between your community and the police.

However, Neighbourhood Watch is not just about reducing crime, it’s about creating communities who care. It brings local people together and can make a real contribution to improving their lives.

PCSO Smith adds: "If you are interested, it is not too late so get in touch and you too can be part of the scheme. We look forward to seeing you!”
