Dyfed-Powys Police is urging people living in Ceredigion to keep their cars and farm vehicles locked while they locate two men who made off from officers earlier today.

Police were called to the Synod Inn area at around 1.15pm, by a police officer requesting assistance after being assaulted while on duty.

The PC had carried out a routine stop on a car travelling through the area, and was assaulted by the male occupants.

He sustained cuts and bruises, and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The two men made off on foot, and a search ensued to locate them, involving the armed response unit and the NPAS helicopter. At present, their location is unknown.

They are described as white men, one of stocky build wearing jeans and a black t-shirt, and the other wearing a blue and yellow or white boiler suit.

Chief Superintendent Pete Roderick said: “We have reason to believe these two men will try to access a vehicle to leave the area, and are urging people to make sure they remove their keys and keep all vehicles – both domestic and farm equipment – locked.

“We are appealing for anyone who sees any men acting suspiciously – perhaps trying vehicle doors, or crossing farmland – to call 999 immediately.

“It is unacceptable that one of our colleagues was assaulted during the course of his duty, and we are giving him the support he needs.”
