Updates

05 May 2018

During the month of April there have only been 3 reported incidents of ASB from the Trostre/McDonalds area this during a busy Easter half term which is very low for the area compared to other months.  We have been regularly in contact with the Trostre security team and banning notices have been given to young people and adults for causing ASB and other unacceptable behavior within the Retail Park. Managers and staff are encouraged to call security / Police when youths are causing a disturbance which they cannot deal with themselves.  Radio use in the park has greatly improved between all parties 10 youths are banned from the area at this time. Police and fire service have conducted patrols in the Trostre area in relation to fire safety speaking again to managers in stores of those where a risk has been identified.  Previous issues in the park have related to young drivers driving antisocially, there has been no reported calls for this during that time. 2 males have recently been banned for 12 months following an incident in 2017.  Several thefts have occurred within Trostre , Police action has been taken where possible and officers in plain clothes have been in stores trying to identify culprits based on CCTV footage.

  • Shoplifting was our main focus over the Christmas period of 2017, however Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) has been the current issue within Trostre Retail Park from the start of 2018.
  • The Anti-Social behaviour consists of swearing, annoyance to shops /staff members and  the public. Criminal  damage has also been caused.
  • A record has been logged for all incidents involving ASB around the Trostre area using our MAVIS programme (Multi -Agency & Vulnerability Information System) whereby any actions and on -going work is recorded.
  • We have linked in with management at  Trostre Retail Park, whereby banning notices have been given to young people and adults for causing ASB and other unacceptable behaviour within the Retail Park.
  • Various partner agencies including Education Welfare Officers, local schools and Youth Offending teams have all been assisting.
  • The fire service have been giving talks in schools in relation to fire setting, which forms part of the fire setters programme, following small incidents of lighting fires around the parks.
  • There are currently 7 youths banned for 3 months from the area.
  • During February half term there have been no ASB related issues for this time period.

One Dwelling Burglary during the month of April. Support has been given to the victim and there is an on-going investigation. Residents living within the area were made aware and crime prevention advice has been given. Leaflets were also distributed within the vicinity of the area to highlight the incident. A number of residents have been spoken to whilst conducting foot patrols and crime prevention advice has been given regarding locking their windows, locking all doors and leaving a light on if they return home after dark. Also advice has been given to using a chain on the door, asking unknown visitors for identification and not to be afraid to say “No” and leave them outside whilst checks are done by telephone regarding their services.

During patrols PCSO’s have spoken to residents about appropriate locks for garages and sheds and storage of high value power tools, garden equipment. PCSO’s have given bicycle related crime prevention advice for example suitable locks, anchor systems or lockable stands.
