Local Policing Priorities

Local area: Presteigne

Date agreed: 13 February 2019

Action

Tackling Cross border rural crime will be our priority for the next few months.

This crime is mostly opportunist in nature so remember to keep anything valuable safely secured and hidden from view. Please report anyone who calls at your property without a valid reason. Generally these criminals will drive around to see what is about and return later to steal it.

Our officers have made contact with their counterparts in West Mercia and arranged joint patrols.

This month we will also be concentrating on an initiative to offer security advice on how you can protect your sheds and promoting defensive planting. This is a cost effective way of protecting your home from crime by using the power of nature. By planting thorny shrubs in strategic parts of your garden you can prevent unwanted visitors without the expense of fencing.

Look out for our displays at shops, markets and garden centres this month.

Local area: Presteigne:

Date agreed: 04 January 2019

Action

The pubs have been busy during the festive period and have been mostly peaceful. We will use the quieter month of January / February to meet the licensees and our partners to see if there is anything that we need to change to ensure that next year goes as well.

Scams both online and via the telephone continue to increase.
