Request:
I would like to submit a Freedom of Information request to access the following information please:
- How many motorists were caught for travelling with children illegally without a child car seat in 2022 and 2023 year to date?
- Including a month-by-month breakdown
- How many motorists were caught driving without the correct child car seat in 2022 and 2023 year to date?
- Including a month-by-month breakdown
- How much were the total fines issued to motorists driving with children illegally without a child car seat in 2022 and 2023 year to date?
- Including a month-by-month breakdown
- How much were the total fines issued to motorists driving without the correct child car seat in 2022 and 2023 year to date?
- Including a month-by-month breakdown
In addition, please provide responses for both questions broken down by:
- How many drivers were given points on their license for the above offences throughout this period
- Region of license holder's registered address when points were incurred

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold some of the information requested, the details of which are as follows:
Please note: The following information relates to the number of individuals stopped by an officer and issued with a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) for a child not wearing the appropriate seat belt equipment. In respect of questions 1 and 2 it is unclear whether the issuing of the TORs for a child not wearing the appropriate seat belt equipment related specifically to either travelling with children illegally without a child car seat and/or driving without the correct child car seat.

I can confirm that there is no information held/recorded Dyfed-Powys Police, all payments relating to fines are dealt with by HMCTS (His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service).
Response 5&6:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold some of the information requested, the details of which are as follows:
Drivers are not issued with points on their licence for the traffic offence of a child not wearing the appropriate seat belt equipment as it is a non-endorsable offence.
It should be noted that owing to the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such matters the information provided may or may not be accurate. It should be noted that for these reasons this Force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
