Request:
Please can you provide me the following information broken down by the following calendar years:
2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 up until 30 September.
1) How many offences have been recorded by your force which have been committed by children aged under 10 (below the age of criminal responsibility)
2) A breakdown of the offences suspected to have been committed by children under the age of 10
3) A breakdown of the ages of suspects aged under 10 suspected of committing an offence. To give an example, should the data show that in 2016 there were 500 crimes recorded as being committed by children under 10 I would like a breakdown as to how many of those were committed by those aged 9, how many aged 8, how many aged 7 etc. And similarly for all the calendar years requested.
To be clear I am not asking for a breakdown of the age and offence together as I understand this would create a risk of identification. This information can be presented separately to avoid this.

It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
