Request:
Please provide me with full answers to each of the following questions regarding your force’s Job-Related Fitness Test (JRFT):
a) in total
b) by sex
c) by age and
d) by rank?
Ie overall in 2023, 230 pass, 20 fail; 5 male and 15 female fail; 3 under 30s fail, 17 over 50s fail; 4 constables fail, 16 chief officers fail.
a) subject to Unsatisfactory Performance Procedures for repeatedly failing the fitness test and b) dismissed.
Response 1:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
New recruits will be required to reach 5.4
Taser officers will be required to reach 5.4
PSU officers will be required to reach 6.3 (at PSU training only)
All other officers will be required to reach 3.7
There is no distinction between ranks and all ranks must achieve the same level of fitness.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
In 2022 12 officers undertook the Chester Treadmill Test.
In 2023 10 officers undertook the Chester Treadmill Test.
There are currently 0 Chester treadmill tests recorded for 2024, however, PPST training has only recommenced in March and this figure will rise through 2024.

Officers wouldn’t necessarily be placed on restricted duties / recuperative duties / limited duties because of failing their fitness test. The circumstances of the case will be considered and there may be management restrictions put in place.
