Request:

1. Does the data relating to 'more thorough searches' relate to searches carried out in all possible locations, whether that location is in custody, a police van, or somewhere else out of public view?
2. Does the data relating to searches involving exposure of intimate parts relate to searches carried out in all possible locations, whether that location is in custody or somewhere else out of public view?
3. What definition the force is using for a 'positive' search?
4. You have said the data on more thorough searches includes data on more thorough searches involving exposure of intimate parts. Can you provide any guidance as to whether this is how most police forces organise their data?

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

Yes, the data relates to searches carried out in all possible locations.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

A positive search would be if someone is searched because there is a suspicion they are in possession of drugs and the result of the search finds drugs.

All forces will record whether the search involved:

• No clothing being removed.
• Outer clothing being removed
• Strip search
• Whether intimate parts were exposed
