1. Number of Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI) employed at the end of 2023.
2. Number of FCI posts that were approved but vacant at the end of 2023.
3. Number of fatal collisions investigated by FCIs in 2023
4. Number of non fatal collisions investigated by FCIs in 2023.
5. Number of non-fatal collisions attended by FCIs in 2023.
6. Total number of non-fatal collisions investigated by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit in 2023.

 

Response:

I can confirm that there is information held by Dyfed-Powys Police.

There were 6 Forensic Collision Investigators in Dyfed Powys Police at the end of 2023.

Currently sitting at 8 (Completed), however a number of last year’s cases are still live investigations and requests may still come through for FCI reports.

In terms of investigative work all collisions attended by FCIs have some degree of work including scene examination, laser scanning and usually a vehicle exam, so depending on the interpretation required the number could be as (5) below.
