Public Order Act arrests 736/2024

Request:

1) We are writing to make an amended and refined request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Please could you provide the custody records for arrests under sections 12 and 14 of the Public Order Act 1986 alongside, in each case, the age grouping of the persons arrested, the gender of the persons arrested and the ethnicity of the persons arrested. Please could you provide the requested information for both of the following time periods:

  • January 2017 – May 2022 (inclusive); and
  • June – July 2024 (inclusive).

2) Please could you also provide the custody records for arrests under (i) s.78 Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 and (ii) the Public Order Act 2023 alongside the age grouping of the persons arrested, the gender of the persons arrested and the ethnicity of the persons arrested.

Clarification sought 22/08/2024:-

When you ask Dyfed-Powys Police to provide you with custody records for arrests under sections 12 and 14 of the Public Order Act 1986, are you asking for actual copies of all the custody records created during the timeframe specified, or just the number of custody records created by Dyfed-Powys Police during the timeframe specified.

Clarification received 06/09/2024:-

We can confirm that we do not mean the custody records themselves and are instead asking for statistical data on the number of custody records.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

Response Q1

We have no arrests recorded under sections 12 and 14 of the public order act 1986 (CJS codes PU86014 and PU86019).

Response Q2

We have no arrests recorded under the s.78 Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 act (CJS codes PS22001 and PS22001C) and Public order act 1986 or 2023 in the period (CJS codes PU86154, PU86156, PU86155, PU86157, PU86158, PU86157, PU86158, PS22001, PS22001C)
