We don’t hold any specific information on strategies or policies to reach out to transgender communities or trans advocacy groups. We do have LGBT+ Liaison Officers:

and we have attended some LGBT+ events in the policing area.

The expectation of the role of LGBT+ Liaison Officers:

The LGBT+ Liaison Officers are officers and staff and officers who have received additional training to help us better serve out LGBT+ communities.  The role of the liaison officers is: 

• To build confidence and trust between the police and members of the LGBT+ community
• To ensure that LGBT+ victims of crime receive a level of care, which is adapted to their needs
• To provide second tier support for victims of crime who have identified as part of the LGTB+ community
• To engage with the LGBT+ community

They undertake additional training to become LGBT+ Liaison Officers, but they do this as an additionality to their role (can be considered as an additional ‘skill’ that the officers have, so that they can be deployed appropriately, where possible).

We have a Trans Inclusion Policy, however this reflects those working for, or hoping to join, Dyfed-Powys Police as officers/staff.
