Request:
I would like data from January 2022 to the most recent data you have on:
1.
The number of under 18s charged with violent crimes.
The number of those who were previously known to police.
The number of those who were known to police owing to calls or incidents logged from their family home.
2.
The number of 18-21 year old's charged with violent crimes.
The number of those who were previously known to police.
The number of those who were known to police owing to calls or incidents logged from their family home.
Clarification:
What I mean by 'known to the police' is those that have had previous interactions with the police force.
Responses on calls to their home address.
Calls received concerning the individual who was charged for the crime.
Response 1:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
Under 18’s charged with a violent crime = 17
Under 18’s were previously known to police = 17
Under 18’s were known to police owing to calls or incidents logged from their family home = 13
Please note: data from January 2022 to 28 Mar 2025.
Response 2:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
18 – 21 year olds charged with a violent crime = 19
18 – 21 year olds were previously known to police = 18
18 – 21 year olds were known to police owing to calls or incidents logged from their family home, however, 1 did not have an address linked on the system = 11
Please note: data from January 2022 to 28 Mar 2025.
It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
(This is a response under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and disclosed on 04/04/25)
