FOI Reference: 795/2025
Request:
I would like to make an FOI request to find out the number of drivers that have received fines for driving without a valid MOT certificate.
I would like the data to include how much money the fine was for and whether the fine has been paid or if it was dismissed.
Please provide data for the last 12 months (July 2024 – August 2025).
Clarification: Overall number of people that were stopped by a police officer and fined £100, I’d then like this broken down to include the number of fines that are paid or unpaid and the number that went to court.
Response:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
During the time specified, 259 Conditional Offers were issued for the offence of No MOT.
64 of these conditional offers were unpaid and the cases were subsequently referred to court
12 conditional offers have been offered however no payment has been received at present and the case is still ongoing
13 conditional offers were cancelled – reasons unknown
170 of these conditional offers were paid and the case was finalised.
It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
(This is a response under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and disclosed on 26/08/2025)
