Request:

1. Could you please share the annual cost of evidential drink driving testing to the Dyfed-Powys Police budget from

(a) breath tests

(b) blood tests,

(c) urine tests, and

(d) all test types,

as a monetary value and as a percentage of the police budget in the last year for which data is available.

2. Could you please share the average individual cost of evidential drink driving testing in Dyfed-Powys for

(a) breath tests,

(b) blood tests and

(c) urine tests

in the last year for which data is available.

Response 1:

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below for 2025.

(a) £28177 = 0.018% of the police budget

(b) & (c) £6593.66 = 0.0043% of the police budget (please note that this is for blood and urine as the data is not held separately).

(d) £34770.66 = 0.0223% of the police budget

Response 2:

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

(a) 36p (please note that there is a wider cost for the contract with the breathalyser kit providers, but this is the rough cost for each test used)

(b) & (c) £86.30 per test pre-April 2025, then £120.62 per test from April 2025 (please note that this is for blood and urine as the data is not held separately).
