Request:
I would like to know the procedure in place for the care of a domestic pet when a person has been arrested and they live alone with their pet.
I would also like to know the procedure in place for the care of a domestic pet when a person has been detained under the mental health act and they live alone with their pet.
Response:
I can confirm that there is no information held/recorded by Dyfed Powys police as there is no policy/procedure that relates to your request (i.e. the care of a domestic pet). However, Dyfed Powys police officers would ordinarily speak with family/friends if available, and failing that seek support from the third sector agencies such as the PDSA, RSCPA etc.
It should be noted that owing to the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such matters the information provided may or may not be accurate. It should be noted that for these reasons this Force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
