Dave joined the Metropolitan Police in February 1996 and began his CID career in 1998. A graduate of University College Dublin, he is the sixth generation of Police officer in his family.
In September 2000, Dave transferred to Dyfed-Powys Police and was posted to Llanelli. In his career to date, he has worked in a variety of uniform and CID roles/ranks in Carmarthenshire and Powys – both strategic and operational. In 2009, Dave took up a newly created post in Corporate Services reviewing all aspects of force performance and co-ordinating quarterly performance meetings across the force chaired by the Chief Constable. In 2011, he played a central role in a review of the Force Communications Centre and Crime Recording Bureau. In May 2012, Dave was appointed temporary Chief Inspector for Powys and transferred to HQ as a Detective Chief Inspector in 2013 with day to day responsibility for overseeing criminal investigations in Carmarthenshire and Powys and the management of various HQ Departments.
Dave is a PIP 3 accredited Senior Investigating Officer and has served as Detective Superintendent (Operations), Director of Intelligence and Head of Professional Standards Department.
He is married with two children. Outside of work, Dave’s interests include current affairs and history.
