Detective Chief Superintendent Steve Cockwell

Steve has served with Dyfed-Powys Police since joining in 1993.

The first 10 years of his service were in Powys, where he worked as a Police Constable and Sergeant in Montgomeryshire. He then transferred to Carmarthenshire as a Detective Sergeant.

Steve previously worked in Professional Standards as a Detective Inspector and Temporary Detective Chief Inspector between 2006 and 2009 and has then carried out a variety of roles within investigations in HQ, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

Since 2014 Steve’s work has focused on vulnerability, working within the Protecting Vulnerable People Department, which he has led since November 2015.

He took up a post as the Head of Professional Standards in March 2017, and is now the Head of CID.
